Ink: Versamark; Whisper White; Old Olive
Cardstock: Real Red; Whisper White; Old Olive; Kraft
Accessories: White Embossing Powder (EP); Corner Rounder Punch; Word Window Punch; ¼ Circle Punch; Circle Dies or Circle Scissor Plus; Sticky Strip or Mono Multi Adhesive; Heat Embossing Tool; Aqua Painter; Sponge Dauber; Paper Cutter
Inspiration Source: Julie Buhler http://paperpleasing.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/12/gift-card-holde.html (also contains detailed instructions and pictures)
Instructions:
1. Cut card base to 4.25” x 11”
2. Score card base at 3”, 5.5” and 8.5”
3. Fold card base at 5.5” and make pencil marks .25” from either side. This will represent the width of the opening for your gift card holder.
4. Use word window punch to punch the gift card opening. Punch once from the left and once from the right. The two cuts will not overlap and you will need to use the 1¼” punch to cut the centre and hide the overlap.
5. Apply sticky strip (or Mono Multi Glue) between the 3” and 5.5” score lines. Apply sticky strip (or Mono Multi Glue) along the 3” score line (on the side of the line closest to the 5.5” score line).
6. Expose adhesive strip and fold the card base to seal the area that will hold the gift card.
7. Fold the card base along the 3” and 8.5” score lines (towards the slot that will hold your gift card) to form the outer jacket for your gift card holder.
8. Decorate gift card jacket as desired. My example involved cutting a piece of Kraft cardstock (4”x 2.75”). I used Whisper White Ink and the Itty Bitty Backgrounds Stamp to create a snow inspired theme. I also used a Sponge Dauber apply Whisper White ink and soften the edges of card stock.
9. Create belly back by cutting a piece of cardstock to 1” x 6.5” and wrap around card and secure overlapped edges with Sticky Strip. Do not adhere the belly band to the card so that you can slide the band on and off of the gift card holder.
10. Decorate belly band as desired. My example involved cutting and layering circles and stamping the tree image from the Fun & Fast Notes set in Versamark Ink. I then embossed the image using white EP. I highlighted the image using Old Olive Ink and my Aqua Painter. I adhered the circles to the belly band and each other using Mono Multi Adhesive.
11. Stamp desired sentiment inside the gift card holder (I selected a sentiment from the Christmas Punch set) and insert gift card.
12. Slide the completed belly band over the outside of the gift card holder to secure.
